Debut EP "New Her" out now

From Break-Up to Breakthrough

In her debut EP “New Her”, Marlin talks about the impact of her most recent, toxic relationship. She takes listeners on a journey through the highs and many lows, discussing the shattering process from an uncertain new beginning to the “New Her.” With her vulnerable approach, she aims to touch listeners and provide them with space to reflect on their own feelings.

The sound of the EP, produced by Gabiga, is a blend of R&B and pop, influenced by artists like Masego, Anderson. Paak, Greentea Peng and Jorja Smith – all of whom embody a certain naturalness and authenticity in their music.

“Most people often face similar situations in life. That’s why I write so openly about my emotions and experiences. It’s comforting to know that you’re not alone. I also hope that listeners will find some answers they need in my songs.”

About me

Musical, inspired, and passionate - that’s how I see myself.

In addition to Switzerland, where I was born and raised, I have roots in Guinea and Hungary. My diverse family background sparked my love for music and performance early on. My dad introduced me to some of the best R&B, hip-hop, and reggae from the ’90s, with artists like Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Usher, and Bob Marley shaping my taste. I loved singing karaoke, and my favorite song was “No One” by Alicia Keys.

In 2015, I joined a school choir project, and performing solos showed me just how much I loved singing for an audience. That experience solidified my desire to pursue music. Throughout high school, I took individual singing lessons and began writing my own lyrics.

The first EP, 688, was a collaborative project with my long-time friend and producer Gabiga, released in 2019 under the name "Ozyah." This EP led to my first performances in Zurich, Aarau, and Baden. By 2022, I had released my first single, More, under my own name, which gained airplay on Swiss radio.

My music reflects the hardships and joys of life, and I don’t shy away from expressing vulnerability in my lyrics. I value authenticity and naturalness, both in my music and my appearance.

Prominent radio stations like SRF 3, SRF Virus, Couleur 3 Global Soul Radio have supported my music with airplay, which led to opportunities to open for artists like Dillon Cooper, Nativ & Pablo Nouvelle, and Naomi Lareine.

In April 2024, I was part of the Mountain Academy at Zermatt Unplugged, where I performed two showcases. Over the summer, I took the stage at Gurten Festival and Lake Live Festival as well. In October 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to join the Montreux Jazz Residency. Surrounded by world-class musicians and mentors, I was able to dive into a range of activities that offered truly valuable insights and left me with new perspectives.

My debut EP, New Her, is out now everywhere. It’s a deeply personal exploration of my journey through a toxic relationship. Produced by Gabiga, the EP blends R&B and pop, drawing inspiration from artists like Masego, Anderson .Paak, Greentea Peng, and Jorja Smith. Through vulnerable lyrics and authentic sound, I hope to create a space for listeners to reflect on their own emotions.

Highlights of 2024
Zermatt Unplugged Mountain Academy

In April last year, I had the honor of joining the Zermatt Unplugged Mountain Academy, alongside five talented Swiss singer-songwriters. Paired into teams of two, we each crafted a song that we later performed at a showcase during the festival. The week was full of inspiring workshops, collaborative writing sessions, and a lot of good music.

Montreux Jazz Residency

Last October I had the chance to be part of the Montreux Jazz Residency, an experience I'm incredibly thankful for. On the first evening, my band and I performed a showcase that set the stage for a week filled with music and growth. The residency included combo sessions, workshops, and panel discussions with some of the industry’s finest, making it a time of new ideas, inspiration, and support from mentors, fellow artists, and the dedicated crew. I’m truly grateful for everything I learned and for everyone who made this experience so rich and meaningful.
